Anxiety Therapy

Is Anxiety Making You Question Every Decision?

Does every new chapter of life make you worry? Is the fear of the unknown keeping you from improving your circumstances? Do you lose sight of your goals because every bump in the road leads you to question your choices?

Maybe you feel like you’re stuck. So many questions consume your thoughts, you can’t seem to move forward. Or perhaps you get a sinking feeling with each new opportunity, stopping you from excelling in your studies or career. You might even walk on eggshells around your coworkers or second-guess yourself in interactions with your friends.

Sometimes Anxiety Symptoms Can Be Invisible

You may be over-analyzing every choice you make or avoiding decisions, even those that could lead to positive change. Your mind might drift from the tasks you should focus on, and instead, you cycle through every worst-case scenario, costing you the time you need to get things done.

You may be experiencing headaches, digestive issues, or trouble sleeping from overworking or striving to meet others' expectations. Anxiety can even look like a fear of criticism from others that prevents you from setting boundaries or taking healthy risks.

Do you want to find a way to be confident in yourself and stop worrying all the time? With anxiety therapy, you can learn how to live in the moment and be at peace making life decisions.

For Many People With Anxiety, Failure Is Unacceptable

As a society, we are so focused on achievement that we’re constantly expected to perform at our best. Each decision feels like we’re adding another level to a house of cards—where one wrong move will send everything tumbling down. And the goalposts for success are always moving—giving us the impression we’re never good enough.

We are also a culture that is "afraid of confrontation." This fear forces many people to remain silent and anxious instead of being assertive and communicating their needs and opinions to others.

And because there are still cultures and communities that don’t discuss anxiety or mental health, many people feel ashamed or weak for not being able to overcome their anxiety on their own.

Over time, these unmet expectations become internalized, causing people to become highly critical, judgmental, and distrustful toward themselves.

Most People Don’t Know How To Break Free From The Worry Anxiety Causes

Many people can’t turn to family or friends for support for fear of being shamed or misunderstood. So they end up suffering in silence, trying to deal with anxiety on their own.

Additionally, most authority figures, whether well-meaning parents or teachers, aren’t equipped to teach children how to handle difficult situations or navigate failure. This creates a pattern of unresolved self-doubt that can follow a person into adulthood.

With so much educational and, sometimes, contradictory information available on the internet, it can feel impossible to know where to start the healing process.

The good news is, it’s possible to break the cycle of worry. More than three million Canadians report living with an anxiety disorder. And many people find profound relief from their symptoms with the support of anxiety therapy. With the guidance of an anxiety counsellor, you can start learning how to fight your fear of failure and develop strategies to excel in work and life.

With Anxiety Therapy, You Can Learn To Be At Peace With Whatever The Future Holds

As therapists, our job is to help you develop the self-awareness and tools needed to overcome anxiety and make decisions that truly benefit you.

We want to create a warm environment where you feel comfortable enough to explore your experiences and consider how anxiety affects you. Anxiety treatment is a place for you to discover strategies that will support you in building resilience in the face of stress-provoking situations.

What To Expect In Your Therapy Sessions For Anxiety

In each session, we will support you in recognizing the parts of yourself that hold on to hurts or wounds that contribute to ongoing emotional distress—in this case, anxiety. We will help you explore the parts of you that want to protect yourself from experiencing further pain and discover how these parts impact your sense of self. And then, we will help you use your own experiences to build resiliency, discover solutions and strategies, and move forward.

Together, we will work to understand the impact anxiety has on your ability to navigate decisions, and coach you through developing strategies to build your confidence.

Methods To Help You Understand And Overcome Your Anxiety

Using theories such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), we will create an anxiety treatment plan that is personalized to your needs and goals. We do this by helping you learn to understand the different roles held by parts of you that cause anxiety and help you recognize how negative patterns in your life can affect your emotions and the way you interact with others.

Depending on how you learn best, your therapist will share resources like worksheets or articles that may be helpful. We will also work on communicating emotional needs and creating healthy boundaries. All of these things are to help you develop a better relationship with yourself and take back control of your life.

We are here to support you through all your firsts, whether it’s your first job, your first relationship, or another new chapter in your life. With our help and support, you can learn to be in control of your firsts, and all the changes life might bring. We want you to have compassion for yourself, trust yourself, and have confidence in who you are.

You May Have Concerns About Anxiety Counselling

What if anxiety therapy doesn’t help me?

If you’ve been disappointed when something that was supposed to help your anxiety didn’t work out, you might be reluctant to trust therapy. Part of you might be concerned about finding the right therapist or worried about how difficult it might be to change and we can also tell that a part of you really wants this to work out and that you want things to be different. That already tells us a lot about you. And so, we want to support you to make the changes you want in your life.

I should be able to overcome my anxiety on my own.

If decision fatigue and worry have you frozen in place, it’s difficult to figure out what changes you need to make by yourself. You deserve the opportunity to live the life you envision for yourself, so don’t let anxiety stop you from getting help. With counselling, you can work on discovering where you’re on the right track with healing yourself and learn different methods for managing anxiety.

Therapy is expensive, so how many sessions will it take to improve my anxiety?

The number of sessions you might need depends on many factors, including finances, external support, and readiness to change. But with treatment, my goal is for you to understand your anxiety and create solutions so that you can find relief quickly. Therapy is meant to be a temporary investment, and my goal is to enable you to learn how to manage anxiety on your own.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. What do workers gain from their toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-11
