It is normal to be anxious once in a while.
Life can be very stressful when there is so much to worry about. From careers to family, it seems like there is always something going on that we have to worry about. Typically, the anxiety will go away once the stressful event or situation is over.
It is another story, on the other hand, if you experience anxiety every day. You could be experiencing shakiness, sweating, worrisome thoughts, and much more before you even step out of bed. Feelings of anxiety become unhealthy if they interfere with your life and prevent you from functioning.
Anxiety can stop you from taking advantage of new experiences. You could be afraid of going to parties because you feel nervous to be around a lot of people at once. Or you may still feel stressed over a meeting at work that did not go well. No matter what causes you to be the most anxious, your intense feelings can always be treated.
Here are four tips to help you deal it.
Exercise can be a powerful stress reducer. It releases endorphins in your body that can increase overall feelings of happiness and calmness. It provides a great distraction to the invasive thoughts that ruminate around in your mind.
Make yourself a routine so you can be physically active periodically throughout the day. It does not mean that you need to train for a marathon. It is just about doing a physical activity to improve your mood and get those feel-good endorphins going. You can start out slowly like taking a nice walk and then make each activity more and more intense as you go.
Anxiety has a tendency of giving you a rapid heartbeat. When this happens, the goal is to find ways to breathe and calm yourself down.
Whenever you feel the most anxious, you can try some deep breathing or guided meditations to bring your heartbeat back to normal. You can also turn on a song that puts you at ease and brightens your day. If you have to, take a step back from the problem to clear your head, and then come back when you are ready.
Sleep is a very important component of being human that we tend to take for granted. When you are stressed, your body needs rest or you will stay in that same anxious state.
Everyone should get at least seven to eight hours of sleep. If you feel too anxious to fall asleep, read a book or listen to peaceful music to get your eyes to slowly close. If you are still having trouble sleeping, speak to a therapist or health care provider to help you manage insomnia and anxiety together.
There are no quick fixes or moments when it comes to anxiety. It'll be a day-by-day process that will come easier for you the more you stick with your treatment plan.
If you were prescribed medications, continue taking them. Do not assume that because you have not had any anxiety spells lately that it means you do not need them anymore. Remember you are feeling better with the help of the medication.
While medication is helpful for treating anxiety, you can help yourself even more by going to therapy. It helps you to discover the deeper underlying issues that contribute to anxiety. Working with a counselor can help you make strong, positive strides to a life more free of anxiety.
Being consistent with your schedule can lead to great results and a difference in your mental health.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. What do workers gain from their toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-11
